Week 1 Finished

Hey Guys! Week 1 is done and now on to week 2. Friday was our first day in the trucks. I was nervous at first, but it went away. We did parallel parking, off-set backing, and straight line backing. It was a lot of fun! I can't wait until we get on the road Monday. I am ready to be done and start getting paid!
I have to admit, I was a little sad Friday night. Bob's party was then and I missed it. I called and could hear all my friends in the background. I really hated missing that! Hope is was a blast for you guys! Ialso got to talk to my kids a couple times this week. I really enjoyed that!
I hope you guys have a great week this week. Thanks for reading this blog and I can't wait to get back to Georgia.

First Cycle of testing

Well, I have been here 3 days now. On Monday we did our DOT physicals. Blood pressure was low enough to pass. That is one hurdle out of the way! Earlier this morning we went and obtained our Utah CDL permits. The differed between a permit and a full CDL is the same as a regular license and permit. I can drive a truck, but must have a licensed CDL driver with me at all times. I can't wait to start driving on Friday! Tommorrow is another day of classroom involving trip planning and pre-trip inspection.
I jokingly tell people I am staying out here now. If it wasn't so far from my beautiful children I would move here. I just have to stare for a minute and watch the sunrise and sunset. Words can't explain it!
My roommate and I had a great conversation last night. I learned more about him and his background. He is in a marriage that is on the verge of divorce. I encouraged him to try to work it out before making such a drastic decision. At least if you try and it doesn't work, then you won't be wondering "what if?" (just my opinion :), I of all people don't need to be giving marriage advice :) .
I hope each of you reading this has a wonderful week. I can't wait to finish and come home for some R & R. It might be another month or so, and it will be here soon! Take care and thanks for reading!

The Road Trip!

As many of you know I am now in Salt Lake City. Abi took me to the bus station Friday night (isn't she so nice!) I got here Sunday morning. Allow me to share the joys of a cross country trip on Greyhound!! It seemed like it took forever! We stopped about every hour or hour and a half. The driver(s) all smoked and needed smoke breaks. I realized rather quickly why I never took up smoking. I met some intersting people. One of them, Steve Freeland, became my roommate at the school. He is a good fellow from Gainesville, GA. We hit it off pretty well. Talking to him made the trip much more tolerable.
I found myself looking at some of the people and wondering about them. Where were they from? What direction was their life heading?
I will tell you without a doubt that I-70 through Kansas is BORING!!! It went on forever! When you leave a major city (Kansas City, Topeka, etc) there is NOTHING to see! Farmland as far as the eye can see! I thought we were never going to leave Kansas.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was the sports stadiums. As a baseball fan I got to see Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Coors Field in Denver, CO, and Royals Stadium in Kansas City, MO. I also saw Cheifs Stadium and the former Kiel Center where the Blues play.
Last but not least, the trip into Salt Lake City was GORGEOUS! I-80 runs right through the mountains. I have never seen such a beautiful thing! It almost makes me want to stay here....almost :) .
I am going to run now. Thanks for reading and I miss you guys in Single Focus and especially my brothers in Single Dads!
